Respiratory System
Our body needs the energy to move and grow. We need oxygen to turn food into energy. In fact, without oxygen, we would die. So there must be a constant supply of oxygen, It is done by the respiratory system.
The function of the human respiratory system is to transport air into the lungs and to facilitate the diffusion of oxygen into the bloodstream. It also receives waste carbon dioxide from the blood and exhales it.
Respiration
Two processes that are involved in respiration are external respiration and internal respiration. The exchange of gases between the air sacs of the lungs and the blood in the capillaries is referred to as external respiration; the exchange of gases between the blood in the capillaries and the body cell is referred to as internal respiration.
How Respiration Takes Place In Human
When we breathe in air enters through our nose and mouth. In the nose, the air is moistened, warmed, and cleaned. Tiny hairs called cilia present in the nose, help to remove dirt and microbes. When air enters the pharynx. it leads to the larynx. From the larynx, air enters to trachea the air travel down the trachea(windpipe)to the lungs where the trachea divides to form bronchi(single bronchus), which branch where bronchi divide to form bronchioles.
